We have now completed most of the upgrading to the site & have added three Eco Friendly
Camping Pods into a copse adjacent to the camp field, along with upgrading the entrance &
Roadway into the site for hard-standing pitches, we now have further electric hook-ups & a
tractor store etc.
This has been a bigger job than we first anticipated & and still have finishing touches & further
building works which will be ongoing for a few months.
These works are in and around the site, and will be undertaken as and when funds allow.
Hope to see you soon !
We would like to say Thank You to all you fabulous campers that have helped with the utility
Building......Thank You, it’s been much appreciated !
June 2011 Open Day & naming of the Pods.
The War on the Line was on at the Watercress Steam Railway line, just a mile from Two Hoots that kept the
same theme with a wartime marquee & many dressed wartime for the occasion)
Two of the Eco Friendly Camping Pods were named after our very own Eloise Appleby (AKA Our Secret
Weapon) & Ken Brown (AKA The Hobbit). These two pods were named "Appleby Nook" & "Hobbits Lodge".
The other was named by Amy Douglas a local girl "Sleepy Hollow" the name, not the film !
All three cut the ribbon, opened their Pods & delivered a lovely speech. (Its only fair to mention that
Eloise`s daughter the lovely Amelie was chief ribbon cutter on 2 of the Pods).
Everyone that had the slightest involvement from day one of the project to date was invited.
It was a great day with beautiful sunshine that ran on into the evening with a BBQ & live singing by the well
known G45 Memphis Bell.
There were many fly passes & people popping in & out all day long.
Two Hoots saw many visitors that day including the most important of all, Mark Two Hoots Builder (worth
every Single penny), local MP Steve Brine (who wrote a bit about Two Hoots on his own website), many
councillors (both parish & city) some have been involved from the very start, local residents, friends,
family, the ever helpful Rachel Gander & the all important campers.
Many regulars & family came to camp for the weekend and more importantly helped, its fair to say without
their help the day would not have happened, there was Ann & Alan AKA (A&A) on parking duties, Tony on
lighting, Bob & Cindy on Bunting, Stan & George on sound, background music & announcements, the lovely
Jen, Rosemary, Lynn & Katie on food preparations, Barry the gofer on general panic stations, Terry on
organising entertainment & everyone else generally mucked in & helped where ever needed on the day.
Some dressed for the occasion with visits from land girls, military, army even Churchill came !
The atmosphere was awesome, everyone had such a great time, just like the good old days when everyone
was happy, helpful & friendly.
Many have asked for a repeat next year .................
Two Hoots have even gone to press, fame at last !
They have been in many news paper articles also some local village magazines in & around the area, they
even got a mention in the new book by Bradt books written by Tim Locke called Slow Sussex & South
Downs National Park. This was not a paid advert, it was the writers choice, this book came out in April 2011
Its a great companion if your travelling those parts.
Two Hoots have received their first rosette from the Camping & Caravanning Club in their "Best Certified
Location category"
We would like to thank everyone for there help not only for the open day, but for making Two Hoots
Campsite a quiet, friendly & happy site :) Thank You !
